Alice is a lawyer by profession and the owner of Siloam hospital, a facility in Kenya that has been in operation since 1999. Siloam Hospital started as a 72 bed facility but has grown to 110 beds with an average of over 70% bed occupancy.
Siloam’s mission is to provide quality but affordable health care services to a mixed clientele of high end and low end patients. It provides comprehensive in and outpatient care. Its partnership with PharmAccess and Medical Credit Fund has seen it grow immensely. The hospital has actively embraced and implemented the SafeCare quality improvement program that has seen the facility gradually rise from SafeCare Level II in March 2013 to SafeCare Level V in March 2017. As a SafeCare Centre of excellence, Siloam Hospital is a prime example of the benefits that a health care facility can derive from access to affordable financing for quality improvement.
