Abiy Dawit is a Senior Expert Health care and Hospital Administrator with more than 10 years experience in different levels of the health sector. He has earned a master’s degree in Health care and hospital management and stays updated on all the latest news, technology and information concerning the hospital management initiatives and Quality improvement science. He has acquired excellent organizational skills and the knowledge to keep the hospital running smoothly.
He took extensive training on different quality improvements, and scientific approaches especially in low resources setting like Kaizen, Model for improvement. In the ministry he has been implementing a different reform which primarily improves quality health care delivery especially in public hospitals. During this time, he has gained extensive knowledge of the clinical care and administrative duties within the hospitals. He trains and supervises department managers, helps create policies and procedures for the hospital to increase efficiency.
He worked as health center head, Senior nursing officer (Matron) at hospital and regional coordinator for hospitals like Afar, Harar, Gambella, Somali and Dire Dawa regions in Ministry of health. He was involved in monitoring and supervision of the overall Hospitals performance. He is also involved in developing hospitals strategic and annual planning, giving training for Hospital board and Senior Managements Team, nursing staff, quality team and other supportive staff of the hospitals.
He has been consistently involved in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, supervising and reporting of the overall performance of hospitals related reforms including nursing services nationally and worked as technical working member of national Eye health care management unit. He successfully completed Ethiopian Hospitals Reform Implementations Guideline Training of Trainers (TOT) program for Nursing Practice. He travels to conferences and other functions to represent the Ministry of health.
