Dr. Omega Edwards, M.D. is a volunteer Joint Director of Curative Services at Sanitas Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He was instrumental in helping Sanitas Hospital achieve a 4 out of 5 star rating from the Tanzanian government for excellence in patient care. His efforts also resulted in the hospital receiving the “Best Hospital Care Pathway” award at the Africa Healthcare Week 2018 – held in London this past April.
Dr. Edwards earned his B.S. from Cornell University and his M.D. from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn. He was a Chief Resident and completed his Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Brown University. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
When he is not overseeing the hospital, serving as an assistant coach and as the team physician for the Tanzania National Basketball Team brings him great joy. Dr. Edwards is 17 years married and has four children.
