Kate Langwe is a development economist with 16 years’ experience in the Public Sector. She holds a Masters Degree in Development Economics from the University of Manchester, Bachelors Degree in Social Science from University of Malawi, Chancellor College and Post-Graduate Certificates in Public Policy Development and Implementation; and Human Resource Management and Development from ESAMI. Mrs Langwe has championed implementation of a number of policies in the Malawi Public Sector, including the Medium Term Pay Policy and the recently launched Global Financing Facility.
Mrs Langwe was a key person in formulating the Malawi Poverty Reduction Strategy, which later translated to Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS), Public Service Travel Policy, legal framework for the Public Service Remuneration Board, National Early Childhood Development Policy, National Health Policy and a number Human Resource Policies, among others. She has served as an Executive Secretary for the Malawi Public Service Remuneration Board for 6 years.
Mrs Langwenow serves as a Director of Planning and Policy Development in the Ministry of Health and Population, leads the Global Financing Facility task force and the Malawi Cancer Centre Project; she is also the Principal Investigator in the Malawi Kuunika “Data for Action” Project, which aims at strengthening the health data systems.
