Alex currently serves as the Regional Projects Development Director – Eastern Africa at GE Healthcare (GEHC). In this role, he is responsible for origination, structure and lead closure of major and complex assignments for large-scale projects, with long-term and high impact business outcomes. He is also a recognized expert in project development & structuring, supporting private sector and Government Ministries of Health in developing public project partnerships and driving sustainable solutions to customers. As a key pillar of GE Healthcare, Alex’s role contributes to the overall growth strategy to manage complex project plans and deliverables and be a market-maker by leveraging full One-GE Healthcare portfolio and collaboration with external partners (Governments, CPA firms, The World Bank, USAID, African Development Bank, EPCs, Packagers, Architects, Operators) to develop competitive offering for Hospital & Healthcare projects.
Alex joined GE in Nov 2013 and served as the Regional Channels Director – Sub Saharan Africa for GE Energy Management business until Dec 2014. He worked with Energy Management P&Ls and Global Channel COE (Centre of Excellence) team to help establish competitive advantage for GE EM indirect portfolio. He was responsible for GE Energy Management’s overall Channel Recruitment and Enablement, driving strategy and growth for channel partners within the Sub Saharan Africa region and reinforced GE`s strong compliance culture.
Alex began his career in 2003 as an Account Manager with Swift Global Ltd which was a leading internet service provider in Kenya. He served as the interface between the company and the customers. In 2005, Alex joined MTN as a Key Account Manager to manage key accounts including leading banks, Government ministries and parastatals and Multinationals (Global Accounts). In Dec 2007, Alex joined France Telecom Group as the Business Development Manager to drive growth, development and execution of the Business Market Division’s strategy after a successful acquisition of Telkom Kenya. In 2011, Alex joined Cisco Systems, Inc. as Business Development Manager – Distribution, for Eastern Africa and Indian Ocean Islands and was instrumental in re-structuring, creation & management of Cisco’s largest indirect channel in Eastern Africa & Indian Ocean Islands.
Alex is a PHD candidate pursuing a Doctorate in Social Transformation – Majoring on Governance at Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). He also holds a Master of Arts in International Development Studies (Development Economics and International Development) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies from the same university. He has also undertaken several professional development courses including a Diploma in Business Administration and Management (ABE – London) and an Advance Strategic Thinking Program from University of Salford, Manchester – UK.
